California Academy of Sciences; Through Glass
I've spent the day pacing around my dim little den, in part because it's too hot to do anything, and in part because I really was thinking. Me and the novel, we're going to sort this little issue of ours out, even if knives are required.
The dayjob welcomes me back tomorrow, and to say I am afeared for my hands would be a gross understatement. Typing has been largely avoided today, but I can't escape it, nor do I want to. Aside from writing-writing, there's book-reaction-writing, and trip-report-writing, and correspondence-writing, and who knows what else.
You get owl skulls instead. Photos are easier than typing right now.

Man, I wish I had some real advice on the hand thing. In and around grad school my wrists used to give me hell, and still whinge if I try to do something like type in bed; trick seems to be to do my best not to bend my wrists in any way... But "I used to have something like that and then it magically got better" is probably not helpful. Is it fingers bothering you, wrists, what?
ReplyDeleteDon't answer if answering pushes your typing budget.
ReplyDeleteGo to the doc/physio before it's too late, and try to find out exactly what's wrong, would be my 2c. RSI is easier to treat if caught early. You also might need to change something about the way you type, or the position of your keyboard. Ditto David's second comment.
ReplyDeleteSeriously--get some help. I've adjusted all kinds of things that've done the trick. TESSA MUST TYPE. jv
