I had a similar problem with the clock although the article I read downplayed the monster (so I thought it was awesome) and emphasised the "blue crackling lightening" of the lights which I thought were pretty lame. I was expecting the kind of lightning that strikes mad scientist's lightening rods to go skittering across the face of the thing. Which on second thoughts was pretty unrealistic.

I think travelling via jelly fish would be supremely comfortable, although given the majority of said travel would be out in the open ocean, probably dead boring too.

I imagine a jellyfish would be like a cross between a trampoline and a waterbed to ride on. Somewhere in the sea there's a jellyfish & crab rodeo; colourful sea-slugs are the clowns.
